Job Title: Retail Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our team at Village Health Clubs and Spas. As a Retail Assistant, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized retail environment, and supporting the sales and merchandising efforts of our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service, ensuring that every guest and member feels welcome and valued.
  • Maintain a clean and organized retail floor, including dusting shelves, merchandising products, and restocking inventory.
  • Assist with sales and merchandising efforts, including processing transactions, handling customer returns and exchanges, and verifying orders and stock.
  • Communicate customer feedback to the Retail Director and assist in developing and maintaining consistent front desk retail procedures.
  • Compile and maintain invoices and correspondence for the Retail Director.
  • Coordinate customer returns and exchanges, and facilitate monthly inventory and ordering of merchandise.
  • Assist with special events and other duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • Outstanding customer service skills with a friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and possess data entry skills.
  • Must have schedule flexibility and be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior retail experience.
Working Conditions:

This position requires daily standing for long periods of time, walking, lifting, grasping, bending, kneeling, raising arms overhead to perform inventory and climbing a step stool. Sitting in a chair or on the floor for some periods of time. Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Involved in activities where one must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through written and oral communication.

Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally heavy lifting up to 40 pounds to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight and to operate assigned equipment.

This position requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: assessing physical fitness progress and form of clients, members and employees. Preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing computer monitors and extensive reading.

Work is performed in an indoor and occasionally outdoor environment. Possible exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, mechanical and electrical hazards, and extreme warm temperature conditions typical to retail, health club and spa environments.
