About the Role

G&W Electric is seeking a skilled Fabricator II CNC Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for fabricating high-quality metal components using CNC machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select and install dies, tools, and punches for proper material thickness
  • Choose the correct CNC program for laser cutting
  • Form material according to drawings using various radius dies
  • Install and align progressive compound, forming, blanking, piercing, coining, embossing, notching, and combination punches and dies
  • Monitor equipment and tooling condition
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures
  • Conduct first-piece and in-progress inspections to ensure work meets all requirements
  • Adjust stroke, feed equipment, knock-out devices, work holders, and safety devices
  • Install and align punches and dies in the proper tool station to perform required operations
  • Monitor tooling condition and inform the supervisor or team lead when punches and dies need sharpening
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of fabrication tasks as needed
  • Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms
Requirements
  • Must be able to safely use small hand and power tools
  • Must be able to read bills of materials and interpret drawings of moderate to advanced complexity
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to safely operate fabrication machinery such as press brake, punch press, etc.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma, GED, or combination of work experience and skill development required
  • 3 or more years of experience working as a metal fabricator in a manufacturing environment desirable
Physical Demands

The work is classified as Medium-Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles.

  • Lifting Demands:
    • Lift up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis floor to waist
    • Lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis floor to chest
    • Carry up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
    • Push/pull up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis
  • Postural Demands:
    • Standing - continuous
    • Walking - continuous
    • Bending/stooping - continuous
    • Squatting/kneeling - continuous
    • Lifting - continuous
  • Miscellaneous Demands:
    • Griping, manipulation, fingering - frequent to continuous
    • Variable hand/power tool use - frequent
    • Two-person lifting tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling, and pushing including hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and hoists
