Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and animal-loving Sales Associate to join our team at Petco Animal Supplies Stores, Inc. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience, assisting guests with their pet care needs, and promoting our products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a great experience for guests by engaging with them, utilizing your acquired skills and training, and assisting them in selecting the right products for their pets.
  • Process transactions efficiently and effectively, creating a positive experience for each guest.
  • Generate future business by understanding the needs of our guests and their pets, and making recommendations accordingly.
  • Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for our guests.
  • Complete training programs to maintain a high level of expertise in your role.
  • Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Be able to work successfully within a team, demonstrating a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the store.
  • Prior experience in sales, retail, or a related field is preferred, as well as a high level of knowledge of pet nutrition and an aptitude for sales techniques.
Work Environment

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly. This position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise, and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment.
