About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production lines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including PMs, to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, making repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Follow all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Set up and test machinery and equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, using technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
  • Perform physical labor, including lifting and moving heavy equipment, as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 1+ years of related experience in industrial maintenance or food manufacturing.
  • Vocational or technical training in maintenance or a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, interacting with all levels of personnel and outside contractors.
  • Valid forklift and scissor lift certifications, or ability to obtain.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to read and execute work orders and translate equipment manuals.
Work Environment

Our plant environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with exposure to various conditions, including wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and loud noise levels. You will be required to stand, walk, and lift heavy equipment, as well as use your hands and arms to handle and feel objects.
