Job Summary

Silver Spring Health and Rehab is seeking a highly skilled Certified Medication Aide to join our team. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Administration: Prepare and administer oral, topical, and suppository medications to residents as prescribed by the physician.
  • Medication Management: Count and calculate dosages on a daily basis and document the number of scheduled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Observation and Reporting: Monitor residents' vital signs, observe for expected actions, and report any observations concerning resident/patient condition, emergency situations, or difficulties with medications to the supervising nurse throughout the shift.
  • Documentation: Document vital signs, medication administration, resident behaviors associated with medication administration, and facility incident and accident reports.
  • Collaboration: Meet with supervisory staff to report, review, and discuss medication administration process and participate in review and response.
  • Medication Cart Maintenance: Record and replace medications and medication administration supplies, and maintain and clean medication cart to remain compliant with facility policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: Certified Medication Aide in Texas.
  • Experience: 6 months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and transfer residents (up to 100 pounds unassisted), bend, twist, push, and pull. Knowledge of medical terminology, skill in administering nursing techniques, including taking vital signs, medication administration, and knowledge of possible side effects. Exceptional organization skills, ability to prepare and maintain accurate resident charts, reports, and observations. Effective communication skills and interpersonal relations. Good problem-solving and independent thinking skills. Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices. Professional conduct and ethics.
