As a Registered Nurse Preceptor, you will engage in activities related to the onboarding and ongoing professional development of nursing staff.
The responsibilities of the RN I Preceptor include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborating with the Education Consultant to create tailored orientation plans that evolve over time.
- Supporting the documentation of Orientation Records and validating orientation competencies.
- Providing constructive and timely feedback on the progress of orienting nurses to the orientee, Education Consultant, and management.
- Assisting in the annual assessment of learning needs within the unit.
- Facilitating the coordination of continuing education for department staff.
- Overseeing the annual completion of staff competency validations as necessary.
Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
Experience: A minimum of two years in a clinical nursing role is required.
Licensure/Certification: Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or be eligible for licensure. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. CPR certification is required, along with ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as applicable.
Additional Requirements: Proficiency in computer skills for electronic medical records (EPIC) is essential. Completion of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health de-escalation training within four months of hire is mandatory, with ongoing maintenance thereafter. Successful completion of orientation and competency assessments is also required.
