Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist plays a critical role in helping physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. This individual prepares the room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient conditions, and provides routine and emergency patient care during procedures. Additionally, they contribute to the orientation and training of other team members and participate in daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Assists physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, and other cardiovascular procedures.
- Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff.
- Provides emergency procedures, such as CPR and defibrillation, as needed.
- Performs pre and post-procedure care and monitoring.
- Orients patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures.
- Monitors patient ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances while in the Electrophysiology Lab and notifies physicians of variances.
- Helps run RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and records procedural documentation.
- Manages and maintains images, including stenosis testing, formatting, and processing on both cardiac and peripheral cases.
- Helps in procedure rooms and collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms.
- Gathers catheterization data and prepares procedure reports.
- Prepares and maintains sterile fields for Lab procedures.
- Orders and maintains inventory of procedure room supplies.
- Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment has not expired.
- Coordinates and/or audits resources during yearly inventories.
- Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment and notifies appropriate team members for fixes.
- Helps in the orientation and training of new staff and students or extra duties as established by supervisor/manager.
- Oversees some level of quality control monitoring, such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, performance improvement initiatives.
- Participates in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees.
- Education: Associate's degree in a related field or completion of a US military training program and equivalent experience.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of experience.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and one of the following: ARRT-R, MRT, RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or CCDS.
