Purpose and Responsibilities

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse who plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. As a member of the care delivery team, this nurse is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. With a focus on patient-centered care, this nurse will manage and provide patient care activities for a group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.

This nurse will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. With a commitment to the community and the nursing profession, this nurse will demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to patient care, building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in department or practice-specific quality improvement efforts, identifying opportunities for improvement and taking personal responsibility for implementing changes.
  • Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care, staying up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in pediatric nursing.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships with colleagues, patients, and families, demonstrating accountability for actions and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Provides detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families, guiding them through the episode of care and promoting healthy behaviors and self-care.
  • Supports the development of students, new staff, and colleagues, creating an environment of open dialogue, inquiry, and continuous development.
Requirements

This role requires a minimum of six months of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a preference for prior pediatric office experience. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is also preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will also possess a current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state where the facility is located, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
