Tax Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team at Stockman Kast Ryan + Co. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing client engagements, from tax planning through the review of various tax returns, as well as coaching and supervising other tax professionals.
About the Role:
This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong technical proficiency in preparation and review of complex tax returns for partnerships, corporations, and individuals. You will be responsible for ensuring that clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. You will also be responsible for identifying when research is needed, clearly and concisely framing issues to be researched, and clearly and concisely reporting the analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proven technical proficiency in preparation and review of complex tax returns for partnerships, corporations, and individuals
• Ensures both that clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and self and client service teams comply with all SKR+CO policies & standards
• Identifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysis
• Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients current and future taxes
• Applies the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions while maximizing client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing risk
• Develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation, e.g., individual, corporate, property, sales, corporate pass-through, state, and local, transfer pricing, credits and incentives, compensation and benefits, accounting methods, R&D tax benefits
• Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits
• May train and mentor managers/seniors/associates on specialization areas, research skills, and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis
• Consistently makes suggestion as to how work products, approaches, and/or processes can be improved
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• 5+ years of tax experience in public accounting/professional services firm
• CPA license
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's in taxation preferred
