About the Role

The University of Michigan's Science Learning Center (SLC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Tutor II. As a Tutor II, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all students have the same opportunity for success in science courses, regardless of their educational background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide peer-to-peer academic support to students, helping them complete assigned learning modules and build effective learning strategies for science coursework.
  • Collaborate with SLC Consultants to edit and produce high-quality learning modules that meet the needs of our students.
  • Accurately enter data and perform other clerical and administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the SLC.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies to ensure a productive and efficient work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school, minimum of 30 academic credit hours in undergraduate coursework, and good academic standing as a University of Michigan-Dearborn student.
  • Completion of most introductory-level science courses.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex scientific concepts to students from diverse educational backgrounds.
  • A willingness to apply a continuous improvement mindset to SLC work.

Background Screening
