Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medicine Specialty

Job Specialty: FS - Med Specialty Step Down

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 3/12's night shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: Must have step-down experience

License: Current RN License issued by the relevant State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
  • Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
  • Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
  • Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver patient care competently.
  • Interact with families and patients in sharing the care plan during hospital stays and at discharge.
  • Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or higher) from a board-approved program preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
