Role Responsibilities:
  • The Mobile Pharmacist collaborates with the Pharmacy Director, adhering to established protocols to compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written prescriptions from healthcare providers.
  • Engages in Performance Improvement initiatives within the healthcare facility.
  • Advises Administration, Medical Staff, and hospital personnel on quality, regulatory, and risk management matters.
  • Acts as a consultant to clinical and medical teams.
  • Assists the Pharmacy Director in coordinating and executing pharmacy operations.
  • Interprets medication orders and dispenses pharmaceuticals in compliance with legal, ethical, and professional pharmacy standards.
  • Supervises technical support staff and contributes to clinical, quality management, and educational programs.
  • Provides comprehensive support for all departments concerning patient care, focusing on individuals aged 18 and older, including geriatric patients.
  • Participates in the distribution of drug information through educational sessions for hospital staff and consultations with patients.
  • Supports fellow Pharmacists and Technicians in their routine responsibilities as needed.
  • Guides Pharmacy personnel in professional and technical matters.
  • Utilizes professional judgment to convey therapeutic and drug-related information to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrates competency in addressing the treatment needs of adult and geriatric patients.
  • Capable of processing a minimum of 40 medication orders per four-hour shift and generating necessary reports.
  • Adheres to Backup Procedures accurately.
  • Assists Technicians with technical tasks.
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and ensures proper recycling of products.
  • Reviews technician-prepared products before release.
  • Ensures compliance with I.V. refrigerator temperature and hood cleaning logs.
  • Accurately fills medication orders and verifies support staff accuracy prior to medication release.
  • Prioritizes work effectively to manage STAT, Now, and Waiting orders.
  • Reviews patient profiles to ensure safe and appropriate drug therapy.
  • Avoids therapeutic duplication and significant drug interactions.
  • Prevents adverse drug reactions related to allergies.
  • Ensures medication appropriateness based on patient-specific factors such as height, weight, age, renal function, and medical conditions.
  • Maintains knowledge of the patient population served.
  • Oversees Pharmacokinetics Dosing Service, ensuring appropriate dosing and level interpretation.
  • Modifies doses as necessary and documents progress notes per protocol.
  • Dates, times, and initials all vials for reuse.
  • Calculates fluid, electrolyte, and caloric requirements accurately.
  • Monitors patient suitability for formulations.
  • Clarifies any ambiguous orders with physicians.
  • Stays updated on new medications and ensures proper sequencing of additives.
  • Maintains accurate syringe and vial counts.
  • Labels containers correctly, including auxiliary labels.
  • Completes packaging with appropriate seals and protective wraps.
  • Ensures the security of the Pharmacy and controlled substances, informing staff of any issues.
  • Prepares unit-of-use dosages when feasible.
  • Keeps the Pharmacy Director informed about workload status.
  • Effectively prioritizes work to manage Stat, Now, and Waiting orders.

Facility Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid KY BOP license and be CPh certified.
  • Must hold BLS certification.
  • Shifts will vary throughout the week, including 8 AM to 8 PM, with every third weekend required after orientation.
