Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Harris Regional Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate cardiopulmonary status of patients, utilizing physical assessment and history taking skills, laboratory findings, radiological studies of the chest, pulmonary function testing, and professional judgment to formulate a respiratory care plan upon the order of a physician.
  • Initiate, administer, evaluate response to, and document all therapy modalities according to departmental procedure and ordered by a physician, including intermittent positive pressure breathing, handheld nebulizer, chest physical therapy modalities, including percussion, vibration, breathing and cough retraining exercises, deep tracheal suctioning, incentive spirometry, and sputum induction.
  • Initiate, monitor, and document performance of various respiratory care modalities.
  • Administer proper technical respiratory care procedures, including dispensing of proper dosage of medication and equipment/devices.
  • Inspect and test equipment, disassemble, clean, reassemble equipment as required, maintain adequate supply of necessary equipment, perform accurate record keeping, including logs for oxygen, supplies, and equipment, and dispose of equipment properly.
Requirements
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with NC Respiratory Care Board and current Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification within 3 months and maintain thereafter.
  • American Heart Association NRP certification within 3 months and maintain thereafter.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.
  • Ability to hear and distinguish heart and lung sounds.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively, and develop priorities during highly stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
  • Ability to move and operate equipment and carry supplies.
