Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Stability Direct. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients of all ages, from infants to adults.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist will work closely with the Director and Clinical Coordinator of Respiratory/Pulmonary Services to provide comprehensive respiratory care, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and possess a strong knowledge of respiratory care principles and practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer all forms of respiratory care and treatment to patients, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications.
  • Work closely with the Director and Clinical Coordinator of Respiratory/Pulmonary Services to develop and implement respiratory care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and families on respiratory care and disease management.
  • Participate in patient care rounds and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Perform routine surveillance and equipment inspection to ensure proper use and functioning of respiratory equipment.
  • Process reusable respiratory equipment, including ventilator cassettes, laryngoscope handles, and blades.
  • Assist with bedside bronchoscopies and pulmonary function screening.
  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) punctures and analysis.
  • Participate in Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams.
  • Perform emergency intubation and tracheostomy tube changes.
  • Provide specialty gas therapy, including heliox therapy, as requested.
  • Complete documentation in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure complete verbal report to incoming shift regarding all patients receiving respiratory care services.
  • Communicate verbally to nursing and other ancillary staff as necessary, any pertinent patient care information.
  • Participate in patient care rounds.
  • Communicate recommendations of change in therapeutic regime to physicians and document in the EMR.
  • Communicate timely with department Director any problems or unusual occurrences.
  • Responsible for checking computer systems and departmental boxes for new or revised orders and carrying out the orders.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities in keeping with the overall department and hospital goals.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the State of New Jersey.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NBRC credential, or eligible.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support American Heart BLS Certification.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support American Heart ACLS certification within 1 year.
  • 1-2 years of experience in respiratory care, preferably in a hospital setting.
