Job Summary

Pace Industries is seeking a skilled Central Melt Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective completion of daily production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tap furnaces as directed by the supervisor
  • Set up and operate the furnace for melting
  • Load and unload materials
  • Clean furnace and equipment
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved on daily production sheet
  • Remove samples of materials, label them with identifying information, and take samples for laboratory analysis
  • Operate industrial truck or electrical hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and product
  • Skim sows and ingots, paying great attention to detail to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards
  • Responsible for stacking, banding, and prepping of product for shipping
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair furnaces
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring strict adherence to 5S standards
  • Accurately and timely complete all necessary paperwork, such as attendance reporting, corrective actions, preventive maintenance work orders, etc.
  • Comply with established QMS procedures
  • Follow the requirements of the Quality Policy, ISO/TS system, and procedures, and participate in the Continuous Quality process
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any unsafe conditions in a timely manner
  • Follow all safety rules and policies as set forth by OSHA guidelines and Pace Industries, including wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

Physical Demands
  • Must be capable of lifting 50lbs, reaching and lifting moderately heavy parts up to several hundred repetitions per shift
  • Ability to stand on one's feet, bend, and/or twist a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs
  • Must be able to sit, walk, climb, stoop, and kneel
Qualifications
  • High School/GED/ or equivalent
  • Ability to move between machines as needed
  • Knowledge of molds and casting process theory
