About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Vendor Coordinator to join the South Dakota State Government team at the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources - State Fair Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving profitable business results and operational excellence by establishing positive relationships with our vendor base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure new vendors and negotiate with existing vendors to ensure compliance with policies and requirements
  • Assist in planning and implementing special events during the State Fair and non-fair events
  • Develop and support off-season events to generate revenue and maximize use of the State Fair Park
  • Perform administrative functions to secure, support, coordinate, monitor, and execute vendor procurement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors
  • Promote, coordinate, contract, and manage vendors and supporting activities to achieve maximum facility utilization and profitability

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • High level of professionalism
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Knowledge of fiscal management, record keeping, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high sense of personal accountability and integrity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Access
  • Experience in event planning and coordination
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
