Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CT Technologist to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job
  • Understand and operate CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure production of quality images
  • Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam
  • Perform exams per department protocol
  • Review and evaluate images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary anatomical structures are captured
  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff
  • Complete studies within acceptable time limitations per department expectations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination
  • Provide appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns
  • Coordinate patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedure
  • Practice appropriate infection control and sterile techniques
  • Keep accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents
  • Follow appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable QC program and reporting any equipment failures or problems
  • Administer contrast media to patients per protocol and provide education to patients regarding safety concerns inherent to contrast administration
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols by participating in continuing education and professional development activities
  • Assist and instruct students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment
Requirements
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (RT)(R) Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support within 60 Days
  • IV - IV Certification within 60 Days
  • Relevant state licensure Upon Hire
  • For caregivers hired in this role in the State of Colorado, a Fluoroscopy License is required Upon Hire
  • (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within 30 Days
  • (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within 30 Days
  • Specific facility-based certifications may also be required for this role. If this applies, each facility would define and manage compliance
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of CT Experience
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
