As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient care in the surgical environment. Under the guidance of the O.R. Manager and O.R. Coordinator, you will assess, plan, organize, and evaluate patient care for assigned cases.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Utilize the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient care in accordance with established standards. This includes planning, implementing, evaluating, and modifying care plans based on patient outcomes.
1.1 Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.1.2 Conduct ongoing patient assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
1.3 Complete nursing assessments promptly upon admission, reviewing relevant databases and nutrition screens.
1.4 Collaborate in developing comprehensive patient care plans that address individual problems, goals, evaluations, and interventions.
1.5 Communicate significant changes in patient conditions to the appropriate team members.
1.6 Coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team to ensure readiness for discharge.
2.Demonstrate proficiency in applying age-specific standards and guidelines when caring for patients across various age groups.
2.1 Administer medications according to age-specific protocols.2.2 Adhere to standards of care during procedures involving altered consciousness due to analgesia or anesthesia.
2.3 Implement treatments and procedures in accordance with age-specific guidelines.
3.Incorporate cultural and developmental considerations into the care plan, ensuring collaboration with patients and families in a respectful manner.
3.1 Show competency in delivering nursing care that aligns with established practices and developmental appropriateness.4. Exhibit critical thinking skills and the ability to delegate tasks effectively based on patient assessments to ensure safe and efficient care delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:
Operating room duties may include:
10.1 Performing nursing functions and procedures.
10.2 Conducting sterile surgical scrub preparations.
10.3 Executing physician orders effectively.
10.4 Managing blood products and verifying administration.
10.5 Ordering and administering medications as prescribed.
10.6 Circulating in the operating room during surgical procedures.
10.7 Assisting anesthesiologists during patient induction as needed.
10.8 Taking on supervisory roles in the absence of the manager.
10.9 Supporting surgeons during surgical cases (without cutting or cauterizing tissue).
10.10 Functioning as an RN scrub technician.
10.11 Providing assistance in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) when required.
10.12 Maintaining cleanliness and readiness of the surgical suite for subsequent cases.
10.13 Preparing the operating room for each surgical procedure.
10.14 Stocking and cleaning OR suites at the end of the day while anticipating future needs.
10.15 Administering IV conscious sedation after appropriate training.
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure:
Current state RN license; CPR certification; ACLS certification required within one year of employment.
Experience:
Preferred one to three years of RN experience, particularly in orthopedic, neurosurgical, or pain management specialties.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to fifty pounds while providing patient care, as well as standing and walking for extended periods. Candidates must possess visual and auditory acuity to monitor patient conditions and operate medical equipment safely.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to environmental hazards such as chemicals, sharps, and infectious materials may occur. Protective equipment may be necessary.
