Job Summary

Southwest Construction Services is seeking a skilled Welder's Assistant/Equipment Technician to join our fabrication department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with the fabrication and repair of our modern high-tech fleet of medium and heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the fabrication and repair of construction equipment, including welding, mechanical repairs, and maintenance.
  • Work under the supervision of the lead fabricator to troubleshoot, adjust, disassemble, and repair diesel engines and electrical systems.
  • Enhance your welding skills, including Tig, Stick, and Mig.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, replace, and rewire electrical system components, including computer-controlled components.
  • Work in conjunction with other shop and jobsite personnel to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area, adhering to company safety protocols.
  • Perform road tests, inspections, and troubleshooting to assess equipment condition and diagnose issues.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Graduated or attending classes from an accredited technical school preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in welding/maintenance and repair equipment preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • ASE certification or accredited technical school helpful but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Knowledge of materials, parts, tools, and basic principles to repair construction equipment.
  • Availability to work overtime, including weekends if needed.
