Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Unit Coordinator to join our team at Uniontown Hospital. As a key member of our birthing center, you will be responsible for coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Organize and maintain patient medical records according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Verify completeness of orders, consents, lab results, and signatures for patients scheduled for surgery or special procedures.
  • Promptly answer patient call lights and notify appropriate personnel of response.
  • Utilize the computer system to verify orders, review new orders, and respond to priorities promptly.
  • Receive and deliver information timely and accurately.
  • Review HUC audit form for compliance and report any non-compliance to charge nurse and/or Director.
  • Complete and maintain documentation related to unit activities.
  • Restock medicine cupboards, nurse servers, and filing drawers with appropriate supplies/forms.
  • Order, deliver, transport, receive, and return supplies from ancillary departments.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations such as code 69 and acute care transfers.
  • Maintain white boards in patient rooms and nurses' station when assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of administrative experience.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and latex.

  • Ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.
  • Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form.
  • Some independent thought, planning, or origination of options and solutions.
  • Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem-solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
