About the Role

MGM Healthcare is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team at Walnut Grove Care and Rehab Center. As a key member of our senior living community, you will be responsible for creating a engaging and inclusive environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a monthly calendar of activities that promote socialization, recreation, and wellness among residents.
  • Plan and organize special events and activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities.
  • Cultivate relationships with referral sources to generate sponsorship and donations for planned activities.
  • Coordinate volunteers from local organizations to work with residents on special interests.
  • Prepare special snacks and set up dining room tables for activities.
  • Ensure all activity areas are clean, safe, and free from clutter.
  • Assist residents with transportation to and from common areas as stated in their care plan.
  • Work closely with residents to generate participation and attendance at activities.
  • Assist other departments with residents as needed and required.
  • Perform concierge duties as directed.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, with one year of full-time experience in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting.
  • Related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lead facilitated group activities and work comfortably with residents.
  • Reliable, outgoing, and enjoy being with the elderly.
  • Basic computer knowledge for implementation of patient/client information and electronic record keeping.
  • Current state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Current CPR and CAPE certifications.
