Job Overview

We are in search of a Bilingual Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist who will play a vital role in our medical practice. This position involves executing routine administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the seamless operation of our healthcare facility.

Position Summary:

The selected candidate will assist in the examination and treatment of patients under a physician's guidance. Responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), training new personnel, and documenting information in patient records. The role may also require drawing and collecting blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for laboratory testing. Additionally, the candidate will prepare examination rooms for patient assessments, inform patients about care costs, and direct them to appropriate resources for further inquiries. Routine correspondence and reports will be typed from dictation or handwritten notes. The role also includes answering phones, screening calls, relaying messages, and welcoming visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute routine clinical tasks to assist medical staff
  • Manage all administrative responsibilities efficiently
  • Communicate with insurance providers regarding billing procedures
  • Guide patients to examination rooms
  • Prepare treatment areas for patient evaluations
  • Assist patients by providing information, services, and support
  • Register new patients and update existing patient demographics by accurately collecting detailed information and eligibility status
  • Interview patients to gather their medical history
  • Document patient medical history, vital signs, and test results in medical files
  • Conduct routine screening tests, including height and weight measurements and blood pressure assessments
  • Train newly hired staff
  • Draw blood, remove sutures, and change dressings
  • Manage the purchase and maintenance of supplies and equipment
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment
  • Properly dispose of contaminated materials
  • Assist physicians during examinations by providing necessary instruments and materials

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree. Completion of a certified medical assistant (CMA) program is preferred
  • Prior experience in healthcare administration or related fields
  • Familiarity with medical billing practices
  • Strong organizational capabilities
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Licenses/Certifications: CPR and first aid certification required
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience
  • Experience in both front and back office operations
  • Experience in administering vaccines and collecting lab specimens
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
