Cafeteria Assistant Job Description

Wayne County Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cafeteria Assistant to join our team. As a Cafeteria Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation, sale, and service of food to students and staff.
  • Follow all rules, policies, and procedures related to the child nutrition department.
  • Clean and maintain the cafeteria and kitchen areas.
  • Collect money and ID cards during meal service and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Perform related duties as requested by the Director or supervisor.
Requirements:
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Ability to operate food service equipment and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Working Conditions:

This is a ten-month work year position with a starting salary of $15.60 per hour. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
