We are currently seeking an Application Engineer - Adhesive and Composite to support our Advanced Materials Division. This role can be based at our Huntsman Advanced Technology Center or other designated locations.

Position Responsibilities

As an Application Engineer, you will focus on the qualification of adhesive and composite materials for aerospace applications. Your expertise will be crucial in the successful implementation and validation of these materials, adhering to industry standards. You will engage with leading aircraft manufacturers globally, addressing key challenges in areas such as aircraft composite construction and interiors, utilizing Huntsman’s innovative products and technologies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Advancing and implementing innovative adhesive and composite solutions in collaboration with aircraft Material and Process Engineers, ensuring seamless integration of material solutions.
  • Working alongside diverse teams, including design and materials engineers, to effectively incorporate adhesive bonding and composite materials into aerospace projects.
  • Securing qualifications with aerospace OEMs and major Tier 1 suppliers for Huntsman’s adhesive and composite offerings, aligning product specifications with customer expectations.
  • Identifying enhancement opportunities in adhesive and composite applications, providing actionable recommendations for improved performance and efficiency.
  • Coordinating comprehensive analysis and testing of adhesive bonding and composite materials to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation related to adhesive and composite qualifications, including technical reports and specifications.
  • Conducting technical discussions and training sessions on adhesive and composite qualifications to enhance the knowledge of team members, customers, and sales personnel.
  • Staying updated on the latest advancements in aerospace adhesive bonding and composite materials through continuous learning and industry engagement.
  • Providing insights on customer and market needs to the Innovation Team to ensure that future products exceed customer requirements.

Qualifications Required:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a specification-driven environment, particularly with OEMs or Major Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with customers and facilitate the integration of advanced technologies.
  • Preferred experience in aircraft materials and processes, particularly with adhesives and composites.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as Boeing, Airbus, ASTM, AMS, IATF, or MIL-STD.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to analyze complex technical challenges to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
  • Knowledge of best practices and regulations concerning adhesive bonding and composite materials in aerospace applications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and potentially internationally as required.
