This position requires a full-time commitment, with shifts scheduled every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 3 PM to 11 PM. The selected candidate must be available for all four shifts each week.

Compensation is set at $20.00 per hour.

Job Summary
The unarmed security officer will monitor and report on activities and incidents at the designated client site, ensuring the protection of property, personnel, and sensitive information. Regular patrols will be conducted to identify irregularities, assess the functionality of security systems, and detect unauthorized individuals. The officer will maintain order and enforce site regulations regarding personnel, visitors, and property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct foot patrols of the assigned area, checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, and security violations.
  • Document all activities and prepare reports as necessary, ensuring clear and accurate communication.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, guests, and visitors.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, preventing unauthorized access and directing individuals as needed.
  • Report incidents, suspicious activities, or safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to security alarms and emergencies.
  • Communicate effectively and transparently in all situations.
  • Protect evidence and secure the scene in case of incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with property removal policies and client standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the assigned site.
  • Adhere to the GSE Security Officer Standards of Conduct and the DCJS Code of Ethics.
  • Complete necessary training to maintain DCJS registration and access to client systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not involve direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The position operates within a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers and phones, as well as security equipment like flashlights and radios.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to perform physical tasks such as walking, observing, and responding to emergencies. This role is primarily active, though some sedentary work may be involved.

This is a full-time, hourly-paid position.

Travel Requirements

No travel is required for this position.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; relevant experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military, law enforcement, or private security experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Active registration in private security with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is preferred.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is preferred.

Additional Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services registration, including passing a background check.
  • Must pass a drug test, as GSE does not employ individuals who test positive for substances.

Work Authorization

Must be a legal U.S. citizen.
