Overview:

This position is tasked with formulating and supervising safety initiatives aimed at cultivating a robust safety culture, guaranteeing compliance with OSHA standards and hazardous waste protocols, and executing preventive measures to enhance workplace safety. Furthermore, the Environmental Health and Safety Manager will remain informed about industry advancements and work collaboratively with various departments to uphold safety documentation and refine operational processes.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Human Resources Director
Key Responsibilities:
1. Development of Safety Culture and Training (25%):
- Design and oversee initiatives that promote a strong safety culture within the organization.
- Organize and manage training programs to educate personnel on safety practices, potential hazards, and fire safety measures.
2. Regulatory Adherence (25%):
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, hazardous waste, and environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
- Lead initiatives aligned with ISO 14000 standards and global corporate social responsibility programs.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports in accordance with hazardous materials, EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
3. Enhancement of Safety Programs (25%):
- Develop, refine, and implement observational strategies to identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Employ proactive methodologies such as Job Hazard Analysis, incident analysis, inspections, and safety training to avert accidents.
- Establish measurable goals to assess the effectiveness of safety initiatives.
4. Continuous Improvement and Record Management (25%):
- Stay abreast of developments in environmental and safety sectors and changes in regulations.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, standard operating procedures, and written safety programs.
- Collaborate with HR and departmental leadership to ensure effective management of workers' compensation cases and corrective measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline is required; a master's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental management is a plus.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental and safety management within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in waste management, carbon footprint reduction, and implementing workplace safety measures.
