Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular patrols of university premises to identify and address safety and security concerns, acting as a deterrent to theft and vandalism.
  • Utilize a security vehicle or patrol on foot or bicycle within designated areas.
  • Monitor access points and surveillance systems to maintain campus security.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, including fires and other disasters, providing first aid as necessary.
  • Oversee parking areas, manage traffic flow, and enforce parking regulations.
  • Report any hazardous or suspicious activities to initiate appropriate responses.
  • Operate communication equipment, including radios and computers, to ensure effective coordination during incidents.
  • Assist the public, students, and staff by providing information and support.
  • Collaborate with university police and emergency services during critical situations.
  • Provide escort services for individuals transporting cash or valuables.
  • Conduct security inspections of buildings, checking locks and access points.
  • Document incidents and prepare reports regarding safety violations or accidents.
  • Manage the distribution of keys and access cards to authorized personnel.
  • Monitor deliveries and shipments to ensure security protocols are followed.
  • Support special events and activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license for operating university vehicles or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • CLEET Security Certification or completion of Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 training for certification.
Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear directions.
  • Attention to detail to identify irregularities and changes in the environment.
  • Ability to handle situations calmly and professionally.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
