  • Preoperative Care:
    • Ensure a clean and therapeutic environment for all patients
    • Verify availability of necessary supplies and equipment
    • Admit patients to the preoperative area and prepare them for surgery
    • Conduct initial assessments and identify nursing needs
    • Explain procedures and actions to reduce anxiety
    • Monitor patients' physical and mental status
    • Report significant changes to the admitting physician or anesthesiologist
    • Verify surgical consent and preoperative test results
    • Provide emotional support to patients and families
    • Document patient care accurately
  • Postoperative Care:
    • Ensure a clean and therapeutic environment for all patients
    • Verify availability of necessary supplies and equipment
    • Admit patients to the postoperative area and monitor recovery from anesthesia and surgery
    • Conduct initial assessments and identify nursing needs
    • Follow and implement physician's orders
    • Explain procedures and actions to reduce anxiety
    • Monitor patients' physical and mental status
    • Report significant changes to the admitting physician or anesthesiologist
    • Document patient care accurately
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Maintain established Center/departmental policies and procedures
    • Maintain confidentiality of patient and Center-related business
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, visitors, and other Center employees
    • Participate in Quality Assessment activities for continuous improvement of patient care and Center business
    Requirements
    • High school diploma
    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or vocational school
    • Licensed to practice in the state
    • Previous preoperative care experience preferred
    • Previous PACU experience preferred
    • ACLS
    • PALS
    • BLS
