The Surgical Specialties Team at Emory University Hospital (EUH) is actively seeking to recruit Anesthesia Professionals, specifically Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAA), to play an essential role within Emory Healthcare's comprehensive academic healthcare framework.


Work Schedule:
Full Time; Rotating shifts with on-call responsibilities.
Potential schedules may include 3-4 days per week, with options for 8, 10, 12-hour shifts, or longer, based on preference.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in General and/or Transplant Anesthesia is highly desirable.

Compensation:
Annual salary range of $198,000 - $230,000 (for Full Time, 1.0FTE), commensurate with experience as an Anesthesia Professional (CRNA or CAA).
Eligible for additional pay for extra duties, overnight shifts, continuing medical education (CME) time-off & allowances, and participation in a Student Loan Repayment program.

EUH handles a diverse array of surgical cases, including Vascular procedures (both open and endovascular), Surgical Oncology, Colorectal, Urology, Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, and General Abdominal procedures.

EUH is also renowned for its extensive volume of advanced Neurosurgical procedures, such as Craniotomy for Aneurysms, Tumors, and Arteriovenous Malformations.

Moreover, EUH has a significant functional Neurosurgical patient population, collaborating with Neurosurgical colleagues to administer anesthetics for Deep Brain Stimulation aimed at managing seizures and Parkinson's disease.


EUH provides critical care for emergency stroke patients through a high-volume Stroke Program, as well as for individuals undergoing groundbreaking Interventional Radiology procedures. Additionally, EUH supports a busy procedural GI and Interventional Pulmonary team.

EUH is also home to one of the most active and successful Liver Transplant Programs in the United States.


All Anesthesia Professionals at EUH are expected to supervise Student Anesthetists and may have opportunities to engage in clinical research.


At all Emory Healthcare locations, our CAAs, CRNAs, and MDs work collaboratively within the Anesthesia Care Team model, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety for our patients.

Under the guidance of an Anesthesiologist, you will assist in administering both general and regional anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical and non-surgical procedures.

In life-threatening situations, you will perform initial acute cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as directed by a physician and provide instruction on anesthesia principles, respiratory care, and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as needed.

Responsibilities include interpreting and documenting the patient's physiological and pharmacological status, assisting the Anesthesiologist in collecting routine pre-operative data.
Participating in research initiatives as directed by an Anesthesiologist is also expected.

Establishing multi-parameter monitoring for patients before, during, and after anesthesia or in other acute care scenarios, including ECG, direct arterial pressure, central venous pressure, arterial blood gas assessments, hematocrits, and routine measurements of temperature, respiration, blood pressure, and heart rate is essential.

Other monitoring methods may be developed for anesthesia and intensive care applications. You will manage pre- and post-anesthetic care, including ventilator management/support and other respiratory care parameters as assigned by an Anesthesiologist.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited Master's Degree program for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAA).
Must be licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Georgia.

Certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) is required. Biannual certification maintenance through Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs) is necessary. BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.

ACLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications may be required for certain locations and/or services.

Work Environment:
Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs; carrying objects up to 25 lbs; occasional to frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting; and close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary based on assigned work area and tasks.

Exposures may include blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, and other factors.
