About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at United Hospital Center. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by analyzing cytological specimens and collaborating with pathologists to interpret results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and screen cytological specimens from various body sites
  • Work closely with pathologists to review and interpret specimens
  • Recognize abnormal and normal cells and classify findings
  • Perform quality assurance and control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results
  • Participate in proficiency testing and interpretation of results
  • Verify abnormal results and notify patient care units and physicians as required
  • Participate in the training and supervision of new employees
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent agency as a Cytotechnologist
  • Licensure by the state of West Virginia within 6 months of employment
  • Previous laboratory experience
