Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will exhibit strong interpersonal abilities and effective time management skills. Attention to detail is vital, and the ability to collaborate with various levels of the organization is essential.

The responsibilities of a Hospital Attendant may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Collecting and disposing of hazardous materials found on floors, furniture, and equipment, ensuring they are placed in designated containers.
  2. Rearranging furniture and equipment as necessary for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  3. Utilizing mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, and floor scrubbers to clean floors, corridors, staircases, and walls throughout the facility.
  4. Changing curtains, drapes, and other items as instructed.
  5. Employing manual and mechanical tools to strip, vacuum, wax floors, and shampoo carpets.
  6. Cleaning lavatories, including sinks, urinals, and toilets, using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents.
  7. Dusting assigned areas with hand-dusting tools.
  8. Using ladders and scaffolds to clean light fixtures, replace bulbs, and maintain high areas such as ceilings.
  9. Polishing wood and metal fixtures with designated equipment.
  10. Setting up equipment in designated areas, including conference and meeting rooms.
  11. Maintaining cleanliness in specialized areas such as laboratories and operating rooms to minimize infection risks.
  12. Cleaning discharge and transfer units in accordance with departmental and infection control protocols.
  13. Stripping and remaking beds in addition to cleaning duties.

Compliance with safety and infection control policies is mandatory.

Qualifications

Required: Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

Preferred: Previous experience in housekeeping or custodial roles, particularly within a healthcare setting. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills, time management abilities, and a keen attention to detail.

Additional Information

All candidates must meet specific pre-employment requirements, including a physical examination, reference checks, drug screening, and background investigations. Compliance with vaccination protocols for COVID-19 is also required.
