Job Summary

Arcadia University is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Controller and Associate Controller in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, including accrual accounts, prepaid accounts, receivable accounts, and deferred revenue accounts.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, including monthly journal entries and weekly journal entries to record non-student-related deposits.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset system and prepare monthly/quarterly analysis, including reconciliation of fixed assets and recording of related depreciation expense.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with government regulations, institutional policies, and accepted internal financial control practices.
  • Communication: Interact with external auditors, assist with audit inquiries, and provide financial information to management and other stakeholders.
  • Supervision: Supervise student workers and provide guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in accounting or related field, preferably in a higher educational setting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with accounting software, such as Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, PowerCampus, Transact, and/or similar software.
