Freight Line Switcher

• Operate switcher tractors to efficiently move trailers to and from staging areas and loading/unloading docks.
• Maintain open communication with dispatchers to receive delivery or pickup instructions and stay informed about any changes.
• Perform daily maintenance checks on the switcher unit and report any malfunctions to the maintenance shop.
• Fuel the switcher tractor at the end of each shift and ensure all equipment is secure.
• Couple and uncouple tractor-trailer units and connect/disconnect brake lines as needed.
• Work on the dock for at least 2 hours daily or a full workday each week as assigned by management.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management, with a minimum of 20% of scheduled hours spent loading freight onto trailers.

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience driving a tractor trailer and using handheld computers/scanners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
