Job Summary:
MedStar Health is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide physical therapy services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The ideal candidate will have professional competency as a general practitioner in physical therapy, demonstrated independent use of varied treatment approaches, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide physical therapy services to patients, including treatment, training, and equipment recommendations, under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
- Document patient care activities, including treatment plans and progress notes, under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
- Communicate effectively with physical therapists, patients, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet productivity expectations to ensure efficient patient care.
- Collaborate with physical therapists to develop and implement treatment plans, and to provide patient education and training.
- Recognize and document changes in patient condition, and contribute to modification of treatment plans as needed.
- Provide verbal and written reports to physical therapists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain professional growth and competency.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia, as required by location.
- American Heart Association's BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
