Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist will work in the General Operating Room to provide essential support during surgical procedures. The CST will function as an integral member of the surgical team, ensuring that the operating room is prepared and maintained to facilitate safe and efficient surgical operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring that all necessary supplies are sterile and ready for use.
  • Assisting the Surgical Team: Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, and holding retractors as needed, maintaining a sterile field to prevent infection.
  • Surgical Instrumentation: Operate and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring functionality and safety, and assist in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments after procedures.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Accurately document surgical counts and report any discrepancies, and assist with maintaining records of surgical procedures and patient care.
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitor patient status during surgery and communicate any changes to the surgical team, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical process.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and other surgical staff to deliver high-quality care, participating in team meetings and discussions regarding patient care and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Certification: Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical setting, preferably in a general surgery environment.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and procedures, and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Licensure: CPR certification required (Basic Life Support - BLS).
