Job Summary:
The HSE Technician II is a key member of the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) team at Sterling Engineering, responsible for promoting and implementing HSE programs, policies, and procedures to foster a safety culture aimed at preventing incidents and injuries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Collect and analyze safety incident and injury statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist with environmental practice monitoring and permitting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform job safety analysis (JSA) and recommend corrective actions to prevent injuries and incidents.
- Conduct safety training for new employees and on specific health and safety topics to ensure a culture of safety within the organization.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, safety showers/eye wash, first aid kits, and AEDs.
- Support Safety Committee activities and Building Emergency Response Teams (B.E.R.T) to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
- Maintain the company-wide chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and recommend corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
- Collaborate with the continuous improvement (CI) team on safety-related initiatives to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct safety and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Perform incident and near-miss investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Quality System guidelines to ensure a culture of safety and quality within the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, industrial hygiene, science, or related field preferred.
- Experience in training preparation and presentation.
- Minimum of three years' experience with OSHA HSE duties in a manufacturing environment.
- Valid Utah State driver's license for local travel between client buildings.
