Job Summary

KIPP Minnesota is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting our teachers and students in achieving academic success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Teachers with Lesson Planning and Implementation: Participate in lesson planning sessions, communicate with parents and school officials, and co-teach lessons under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Supervise Students and Maintain a Positive Learning Environment: Organize the classroom, monitor student behavior, and minimize distractions and disruptions.
  • Provide Individualized Support to Students: Assist students with physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs, and help them develop knowledge, skills, and strong character.
  • Perform Administrative Tasks: Track student attendance, perform clerical duties, and maintain educational materials and equipment.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED plus two year degree or higher, 60 credits toward a degree, or the passing of the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents, and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Special Education Experience: Experience working with students with special needs, including EBD, LD, and MMH.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Child Development Background: Basic child development educational background or knowledge preferred.
  • CPI Training and Behavioral Intervention Management Experience: Experience with CPI training and behavioral intervention management preferred.
  • Experience Working in Historically Underserved Communities: Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color preferred.
