About the Role

AVI-SPL is seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team of industry experts and innovation leaders. As a Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing presales support by acting as a technical consultant to our sales force, generating functional system descriptions, block flow diagrams, and equipment lists to enable the generation of customer proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Design and Documentation: Review pre-construction design and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Technical Consultation: Provide assistance with technical design and level of effort needed by estimating hours and highlighting logistical challenges for the sales team to consider while pricing the opportunity.
  • System Design and Development: Generate functional system descriptions and block diagrams, identify all cabling and miscellaneous material needs, and assist Account Manager with labor and material estimates for projects.
  • Project Installation and Support: Assume ownership of project installation when required, develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculations, acoustical modeling, or other data as required, and provide on-going engineering support and assist with project sign-off.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product as requested.
Requirements
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Communicate and interact with internal employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Business Writing Skills: Proven business writing skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with test and calibration equipment, support user acceptance testing, understand basic IP networking, ability to diagnose complex system problems, and advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment.
  • Independent Work and Time Management: Ability to work and think independently and ensure to meet deadlines.
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards.
  • Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal Education: Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred.
  • AV Experience: At least five years of AV experience is preferred.
  • Enterprise VC Solutions: Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence etc.) both hardware and software.
  • AVIXA General CTS: AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) is preferred.
