Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will perform a wide range of custodial and related duties in support of campus buildings, facilities, structures, and adjacent areas. This position requires the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; and perform work involving regular physical activity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform custodial duties in campus buildings, facilities, structures, and adjacent areas.
  • Operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Use custodial systems to track work orders and communicate with team members.
  • Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of custodial experience.
  • Beginning proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, computerized work control system, and PeopleSoft.
Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period. The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and will not exceed $3,680 a month. This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
