Job Overview

Role Objective

Ensure the precise execution of biweekly payroll and assist with payroll-related tasks and inquiries. Provide support to various functions within the Accounting Department as necessary.


Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Collaboration - Partner with Human Resources to guarantee accurate deductions for benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and maintain confidentiality standards. Flexibility and strong deadline adherence are essential.
  • External Duties - Manage the proper execution of tax obligations and garnishments.

Main Duties

  • Process special payments, onboarding of new employees, and terminations as required.
  • Record and manage employee garnishments.
  • Prepare documentation for various annual audits.
  • Assist with the month-end closing processes in the payroll system.
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Review payroll records, investigate discrepancies, and implement adjustments as necessary to ensure accurate biweekly payroll processing.
  • Support special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education - Associate Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience - One to two years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Skills and Competencies -
    • Understanding of payroll processes, garnishments, payroll taxes, and benefits administration.
    • Exceptional multitasking and organizational abilities.
    • Strong analytical and research skills.
    • Ability to balance efficiency with accuracy.
    • Commitment to meeting deadlines.
    • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Commitment to ongoing education that aligns with the Cooperative's objectives.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Physical ability to perform tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 25 pounds.

  • Reports to Payroll Lead.
