Job Summary:

The School Nurse will provide comprehensive healthcare services to students, including health assessments, medication administration, and health education. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that students receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with disabilities
  • Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures
  • Conduct health assessments, including screenings for health factors impacting student education
  • Provide first aid and CPR as needed
  • Assist in the formation of health policies and procedures for the school district
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to implement IEPs
  • Attend ARD/IEP meetings as needed
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Valid registered nurse license from the State of Texas Board of Nursing
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in community health, ambulatory care, school health, or other related fields
Working Conditions:

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. You will be required to lift moderate weights and push/pull equipment as needed. You will also be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $62,995/BA, $63,495/MA, $63,995/PHD (based on previous experience). The position is 190 days per year. Salary schedule is pending school board approval.
