Focused HR Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced COBOL Developer to join our client's team in Hartford, CT. This is a hybrid position requiring both remote and on-site work.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of COBOL programming and extensive experience developing and maintaining batch applications within a large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain COBOL/DB2 batch applications.
  • Utilize TSO, ISPF, JCL, and other utilities effectively (e.g., IDCAMS, IEBGENER).
  • Write SQL queries to generate test data and reports for QA and project needs.
  • Work with SYNCSORT to process reports and perform data analysis.
  • Provide Production Support, resolving abends using IBM Debugger tools.
  • Manage code control/versioning using Panvalet.
  • Collaborate on technical analysis, design, code development, and testing.
  • Gather and document system requirements thoroughly.
  • Ensure projects align with business requirements and are properly documented.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of proven experience in COBOL development.
  • Strong understanding of DB2 database systems.
  • Proficiency in TSO, ISPF, JCL, and other IBM mainframe utilities.
  • Excellent SQL query writing skills.
  • Experience with SYNCSORT and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with Panvalet or similar code control systems.
