Job Title: Safety Specialist

At MasTec, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and clients. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Safety Specialist will assist the Safety Manager in all safety-related matters and ensure compliance with federal, state, and corporate environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role will be responsible for conducting safety training, job safety analysis, workplace audits, and incident responses as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct safety training and job safety analysis to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Coordinate and present safety training to support MasTec and client requirements
  • Understand and apply OSHA regulations and guidelines
  • Recognize and mitigate hazardous situations
  • Identify and document onsite safety risks or discrepancies during daily site walks
  • Provide safety leadership and create enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers
  • Input and review incident reports
  • Write, organize, and implement jobsite safety plans
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures
  • Work directly with the Site Manager and management team to develop and implement an effective site-specific safety plan
  • Communicate between MasTec and client management regarding safety matters
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of construction safety experience
  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Working to obtain CHST or other BCSP Cert. GSP is acceptable
  • MSHA Training Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of MasTec Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations
  • Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar
  • Able to speak and write clearly
  • Must have knowledge of hazard recognition, record keeping, and injury management skills
Physical Demands:
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
  • May need to maintain physical strength and stamina
  • Use arms, hands, and legs fully
  • Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, crawling, and climbing to perform job tasks
