Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary:
As a Cardiac Sonographer with the Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric congenital heart disease. You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, utilizing advanced ultrasound equipment to perform echocardiograms on pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and examine pediatric patients for echocardiogram examinations, verifying their identity and obtaining medical history and health status.
- Confirm that ultrasound examinations correlate with patient clinical history and presentation, and inform physicians of any contraindications to the procedure.
- Demonstrate proficiency in various echocardiogram modalities and analyze patient medical records to obtain necessary information for diagnostic procedures.
- Prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by cardiologists, including comparison of previous studies.
- Perform measurements and calculations according to laboratory and IAC protocols and guidelines, and provide oral summaries of preliminary findings to cardiologists.
- Act as a resource and assist Cardiac Sonographers and Cardiology Fellows with pre/post procedures, preliminary review of images obtained, and report.
- Onboard new Sonographers with departmental orientation, in-service, and education.
- Perform quality assurance on equipment, routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunction to echo lab Lead Imaging Tech, Unit Coordinator, or manager.
- Attend staff meetings, Echo lab QI, and patient care conferences to ensure continuing education and professional growth.
- Participate in performance improvement activities established by the department.
- Participate in call schedule per departmental standards.
- Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency, and support department-based goals that contribute to the success of the organization.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiac Sonography Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Sonography Technology.
- Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
- One of the following certifications: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
