Job Summary

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at CAMC Health System, you will play a critical role in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients. This position requires the administration of radio nuclides and the retrieval of data to support patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients under the direction of Nuclear Medicine physicians.
  • Perform radioimmunoassays and imaging procedures as requested by physicians.
  • Operate and maintain Nuclear Medicine instrumentation, including scintillation detectors and gamma cameras.
  • Administer non-radioactive pharmaceuticals in preparation for or support of nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Enhance and quantitate data collected by means of a dedicated computer.
  • Observe strict precautions in handling isotopes to safeguard against overexposure to radiation.
  • Work with and assist in the training of students.
  • Perform imaging and non-imaging work, including RIA's, RRA's, and tests performed with patient blood or urine.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge: The employee must possess and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.

Competency Statement: Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

  • Associate's Degree (Required)
Credentials
  • Am Reg Of Rad Tech Nuc Med (Required) Or Nuc Med Tech, Cert Or Nuc Med Tech, Cert
  • Nuclear Med Tech, Cert (Required) Or ARRT-N Or ARRT-N
  • Radiologic Technologist, Licen (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hire
  • Nuclear Pharm Tech, State Cert (Required) within 19 months of hire
  • Nuclear Pharm Tech Trainee (Required) within 60 days of hire
