Position Overview

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technician plays a crucial role in assisting Cardiologists with advanced echocardiographic procedures. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of various diagnostic techniques and the ability to operate specialized equipment effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation: Ensure patients are ready for their echocardiographic examinations, including preparing both the patient and the necessary equipment.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with nursing staff to schedule and transport patients to the examination area efficiently.
  • Patient Positioning: Accurately position patients on the examination table to facilitate optimal imaging conditions.
  • Procedure Explanation: Clearly communicate the procedures to patients in an understandable manner to alleviate any pre-procedure anxiety.
  • Equipment Operation: Adjust machine settings to achieve the desired imaging results, utilizing technical expertise and adhering to established protocols.
  • Monitoring: Observe patient conditions during procedures to identify and report any abnormalities to the Radiologist.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct minor repairs and adjustments on ultrasound equipment as needed, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment performance to support quality control initiatives.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and report significant equipment issues to management for timely resolution.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, and Physics, typically acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound training program.
  • Current certification as a Diagnostic Sonographer in New York State is preferred.
  • Eligibility for registration by the National Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) credentials are required.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $31.5/hour. This figure represents a good faith estimate of potential compensation and may be adjusted based on various factors, including experience and qualifications.
