Job Summary
Mercy Health is seeking a skilled Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with primary care physicians to deliver exceptional patient care and ensure services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.

The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly. You will be responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up-to-date.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have an Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina).
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH) experience and education include High School Degree or GED and One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
