Job SummaryThe Nadaburg Unified School District #81 is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing quality healthcare services to our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Administer first aid to injured students and provide short-term care to enhance their comfort and safety.
- Administer and record medications in accordance with District policy, and take and record vital signs.
- Administer vision screenings and other screenings, as directed.
- Maintain computerized listings of immunizations, chronic health conditions, daily visits, and health screenings for each student.
- Complete state reports on immunization and vision screenings, and file monthly health reports.
- Report observations to the principal or Child Protective Services, when appropriate.
- Provide social services information and referrals, as necessary.
- May be required to perform specialized procedures, after proper training, such as urinary catheterization, gastric tube feedings, diabetes management, and seizure disorder management.
- Facilitate sending ill or injured students home or to appropriate facilities.
- Responsible for writing and filing employee accident forms.
- May attend or chair the site's safety committee, and represent the site at District safety meetings.
- Maintain a clean, organized health office.
- Exhibit patience, courtesy, and tact when dealing with students, parents, and the community.
- Exhibit empathy when caring for disabled persons and injured/ill students.
- Promote and support district-wide educational advancement in 21st Century skills.
- Integrate knowledge and skills that are relevant to the 21st Century.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of a fully accredited school for licensed practical nursing required.
- Previous experience in a health office or doctor's office is preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Must hold one of the following: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or out-of-state reciprocal equivalent.
- Registered Nurse preferred.
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
- Standard practices and methods of first aid and practical health care.
- Standard practices, methods, and materials of assigned work.
- Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
- Business math concepts.
- Filing and record-keeping principles.
- Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Customer service principles.
- Specialized equipment relevant to the area of assignment.
