Position Overview

The Engineering Project Specialist plays a pivotal role in steering the technical aspects of engineering initiatives. This position entails the design, specification, and commissioning of both new and upgraded process equipment, alongside providing essential engineering support and leading investigations into deviations concerning equipment and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Project Specialist will assist the Engineering Manager in achieving or surpassing project financial targets, execution plans, and overall company satisfaction objectives.

  • Distribute requests for proposals to potential suppliers, gather all quotations, engage in discussions regarding the technical and financial elements of these proposals, and present recommendations to the Engineering Manager.
  • Coordinate and oversee the installation of equipment and processes with external contractors and/or internal teams.
  • Plan and monitor the initiation of new equipment and/or production lines in collaboration with maintenance and production teams.
  • Contribute to the training of operators and technicians, aiding in the understanding and use of equipment, as well as defining operating procedures and equipment settings.
  • Suggest enhancements to processes and equipment aimed at improving product quality, safety, generating cost efficiencies, and boosting overall productivity and efficiency.
  • Establish and uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Provide the Engineering Manager with all necessary technical information to meet company objectives.
Qualifications

The role requires a flexible work schedule and the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an Engineering and Plant Manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with processing, packaging, and utility equipment designs to effectively guide technical resources in maintaining equipment for optimal productivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and technical software such as AutoCAD.
  • Exemplary leadership qualities, including adherence to safety protocols, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments, including extreme temperatures and proximity to machinery and chemicals.

Physical dexterity is essential for handling supplies, machine components, and tools.

Backup Support

The Engineering Manager will provide support in the absence of the Engineering Project Specialist.
