Histotechnician (Traveler) Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnician (Traveler) to join our team at Synectics. As a Histotechnician (Traveler), you will be responsible for preparing slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, processing paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting, and ensuring proper tissue processing.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining
* Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated
* Under general supervision, perform special stains under approval of/at discretion of Histology Manager/Supervisor
* Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of non-complex equipment
* Perform filing of finished blocks and slides
* Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, and document all quality control activities
* Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met
* Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations

**Requirements:**

* A.A., A.S. degree and one year of experience within the last 10 years, OR
* H.S. education or equivalent and 5 years full-time acceptable experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years
* HT (ASCP) or ASCP eligible OR five years of full time experience in the last 10 years
* New York State Clinical Laboratory License

**Work Schedule:**

* Day/EST - 8am to 4:30pm
